Every monsoon, the city's lakes remind us they were here first. Encroached inlets and choked drains turn heavy rain into urban flooding, and the cost is borne by the same neighbourhoods that once lived beside clean water.
The fix is neither mysterious nor new: map every inlet, clear every blockage, and protect buffer zones with the seriousness we reserve for flyovers. A city that can build a metro in record time can surely save its lakes. What is missing is not money or method, but the will to choose water over concrete.
