Indian benchmarks closed out their seventh consecutive losing week — the longest streak since 2008 — even as Friday's session brought relief: the Sensex gained 315.20 points to 73,895.74 and the Nifty rose to 23,140.50, up 0.34 per cent.

For the week, the Sensex fell 0.54 per cent and the Nifty 0.88 per cent, hit by Brent crude above $105 a barrel, the US 10-year Treasury yield crossing 5.10 per cent and heavy foreign-investor selling.

Nifty Auto and Realty were the week's best performers on festival-season demand, while IT and pharma stocks stayed under pressure; analysts see 23,000 as near-term support for the Nifty.
