The Delhi High Court has declined to halt the release of Abhinay Deo's film Doosra, rejecting former India captain Sourav Ganguly's plea that the film violates his personality rights.

The film, which released in theatres on October 23, draws inspiration from Ganguly's famous shirt-waving celebration at Lord's during the 2002 NatWest series, using it as a thematic anchor for a story of personal freedom and defiance.

Directed by Abhinay Deo, the film follows a young woman named Tara, played by Plabita Borthakur, who lives in a conservative household in Rajasthan and pushes back against societal expectations.

The court ruled against staying the film's theatrical debut, clearing the way for its run to continue while the underlying suit proceeds.
