Ishan Kishan misses the Christchurch T20I with an adductor strain; young keeper-batter Kumar Kushagra is added as cover as India look to go 2-0 up.

India suffered an injury setback on the eve of the second T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday, with wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan ruled out because of a low-grade right adductor strain he picked up in the series opener.

The BCCI said Kishan's injury would be monitored, and named young keeper-batter Kumar Kushagra as cover for the second game. India's 1-0 lead in the five-match series came courtesy of a record 226-run chase in the opener, where Abhishek Sharma's assault carried the side home.

The second match goes ahead in Christchurch on Saturday evening, with the team management expected to reshuffle the batting order to cover Kishan's absence behind the stumps.
