Fresh from defending Asian Games gold, Shreyas Iyer's T20 side opens a five-match home series against West Indies in Lucknow on Tuesday — a key audition window ahead of next year's T20 World Cup.

The series runs through October 17 across Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, giving the selectors a long look at fringe contenders before the World Cup year.

The ODIs just gone underlined both promise and concern: India chased a record 406 in Guwahati to seal the series, then Shai Hope's unbeaten 162 powered a stunning West Indies chase of 352 to deny a clean sweep in New Chandigarh.

With Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel back from Asian Games duty, the bowling unit gets a timely boost — though the ICC has since penalised both sides over that chaotic third ODI.
