ISL 2026-27 kicks off with 13 teams as home-and-away format returns

The Indian Super League roared back to life on Saturday as the 2026-27 season kicked off — 13 teams, 163 matches, running through May 2027.
The league restores the home-and-away format, with the top six qualifying for the playoffs. Defending champions East Bengal head a field that includes two Goan clubs for the first time, after Churchill Brothers took over Jamshedpur FC's sporting licence.
Matches will stream free on YouTube with Sony on television, under a fresh club-led commercial model with MG as title sponsor — a reset aimed at stability after last season's curtailed campaign.
