ISRO's GSLV-F17 launches EOS-05, India's first geo-imaging satellite

ISRO successfully launched its maiden mission of 2026 on Friday, injecting the advanced EOS-05 geo-imaging satellite into orbit aboard a GSLV rocket from Sriharikota.
At over 2,367 kg, it is the heaviest payload ever carried by a GSLV, and it will hover roughly 36,000 km above Earth providing real-time imagery for agriculture and disaster management.
Described by scientists as the 'eye in the sky,' it is India's first-ever imaging satellite in geosynchronous orbit and will supply 'strategic data' to the nation.
