ISRO targets first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission by end of 2026

ISRO chairman V. Narayanan has said the agency is targeting its first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission by the end of 2026, keeping the human-spaceflight programme on track.
The uncrewed flight is the critical dress rehearsal before India puts astronauts aboard — validating life-support, re-entry and recovery systems in real flight conditions.
The announcement came as World Space Week was marked with an ISRO space expo in Coimbatore, underlining the agency's public-outreach push alongside its engineering milestones.
Hitting the year-end target would keep India's crewed-spaceflight ambitions firmly on the rails for the decade's biggest leap.
