Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 opens today after advance bookings of Rs 57 crore in India and Rs 25 crore overseas — on track to become his second Rs 100-crore opener.

Over 14.47 lakh tickets have been sold for the opening day, making Jailer 2 the second-highest advance box office for a Rajinikanth film, behind only Coolie.

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian with a U/A 16+ certification; Mithun Chakraborty joins on the condition that his character is neither beaten up nor shot by the hero.

Producers have secured Madras High Court protection against online piracy ahead of the release.
