Microsoft is preparing to deploy its own AI chips at massive scale to reduce its reliance on Nvidia, while Amazon is reportedly pursuing a $7 billion acquisition aimed at making AI computing more flexible, according to a roundup of Monday's top technology stories. The moves signal that the AI infrastructure race is now being shaped as much by cost and control as by raw model capability.

The financial stakes keep climbing: Tencent is preparing a multibillion-dollar bond offering, TSMC is expected to report another record quarter, and quantum-computing company IonQ is expanding into cybersecurity through a deal valued at up to $1.3 billion.

The International Monetary Fund, meanwhile, warns that AI could affect roughly 40 per cent of jobs worldwide — a reminder that the chip wars and the labour-market debate are now running on parallel tracks.
