Glenn Phillips' 107 powers New Zealand to 87-run rout of India in Auckland

New Zealand posted 259/7 — the highest T20I total ever against India — and cut the series deficit to 3-1.
New Zealand ended India's winning streak in the five-match T20I series with a commanding 87-run victory at Eden Park, Auckland, on Friday.
Glenn Phillips smashed 107 off 49 balls, clearing the boundary ten times, as the hosts posted 259 for 7 — their highest-ever T20I total. India won the toss and chose to bowl, but the bowlers were punished for bowling fuller lengths on a true surface.
Chasing 260, India's batting never built the partnerships the target demanded and the side finished on 172 for 9, Tilak Varma's 35 off 33 the highest score. The 87-run margin is India's second-heaviest T20I defeat by runs.
The result trims India's series lead to 3-1, leaving the fifth and final T20I in Hamilton with something to play for.
