Junior doctors, MBBS students and postgraduate and senior residents of Osmania Medical College staged a protest at Osmania General Hospital on Monday, October 12, over non-functional medical equipment, crumbling infrastructure and poor working conditions. The protesters said ventilators, the cath lab, X-ray and endoscopy units were not working, hurting both patient care and clinical training.

The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) announced that elective outpatient services and elective operation-theatre procedures would remain suspended, while emergency services continued without interruption. JUDA president N. Chandrakanth Reddy said the association had made repeated representations to the authorities but received no time-bound assurance of action.

The protest is the latest flashpoint over the state of government hospitals in Hyderabad. The association has demanded a concrete timeline for repairs and upgrades, warning that the agitation will continue until the administration commits to fixing the equipment and infrastructure gaps.
