The NCS recorded the two Palghar tremors 36 minutes apart; a busy seismic morning also brought quakes in Afghanistan, Tibet, Myanmar and Bangladesh.

The National Center for Seismology recorded the two Palghar tremors — of magnitudes 3.2 and 2.1 — roughly 36 minutes apart on Saturday morning. Residents in parts of the district felt the shaking, but district authorities reported no damage to buildings or infrastructure.

The same morning's seismic log was unusually busy across the region: a magnitude 4.0 quake in Afghanistan, and tremors in Tibet, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Seismologists note that such clusters are not uncommon along the region's active fault systems and do not necessarily indicate a larger event to come.

Officials have advised residents to stay alert but calm, and disaster-management teams remain on standby as a precaution.
