Nation marks Sardar Patel's 151st birth anniversary with Run for Unity

Amit Shah flagged off the Run for Unity in Delhi while PM Modi visited the Valley of Flowers near the Statue of Unity.
Shah flagged off the Run for Unity from Delhi's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, leading thousands of participants in the annual tribute run. In his address he recalled that Patel accomplished the integration of over 560 princely states in just 1,218 days — a feat he held up as the defining act of nation-building.
President Droupadi Murmu, the Vice President and Union ministers offered floral tributes to the Iron Man of India, while similar runs and pledge ceremonies were organised across states and Union Territories.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the day in Gujarat, visiting the Valley of Flowers near the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar. The 151st birth anniversary continues the tradition of National Unity Day, observed every October 31 since 2014.
