Matt Renshaw produced a defiant unbeaten 102 on Saturday to drag Australia back into the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead, reaching 277-8 at lunch on day two.

The left-hander, playing his first Test in years, rebuilt the innings with an 86-run stand alongside Pat Cummins after Australia had collapsed to 124-6 on the opening day.

It was Renshaw's first Test hundred in nearly a decade — and it keeps Australia firmly in the contest in the series opener.
