Tamil independent film Selvi made its world premiere on Friday at the 31st Busan International Film Festival — to a full house.

The film is one of only two Indian entries in the festival's prestigious Vision–Asia section. Produced by National Award-winning actor Anjali Patil and directed by debutant Sailesh Rathnakumar, it follows a migrant home-care nurse; subsequent screenings have already sold out.

For a small independent production, the Busan premiere is a major international platform debut — and a bright spot for Indian indie cinema on the world stage.
