Sensex jumps 1,109 points, Nifty surges 1.6% in biggest single-day rally in two months

The Sensex closed at 73,033.78, up 1,109.10 points (1.54%), and the Nifty 50 settled at 22,721.95, up 358.60 points (1.60%), on Tuesday — a sharp comeback a day after both indices fell nearly 0.7%.
Strong buying in IT stocks led the recovery, after HCLTech posted a 21% jump in quarterly profit and a healthy deal pipeline. Short covering ahead of the weekly expiry added fuel to the late-session surge.
The Nifty slipped to an intraday low of 22,288.45 in early trade before buyers stepped in; by the close it was back above 22,700, with the India VIX easing over 8% — a sign traders expect calmer days.
Analysts say the index now holds support around 22,650–22,600, with resistance at 22,800–22,900; a break above that zone could open the door to further upside, though foreign-investor selling remains a watch point.
