Elon Musk said the throttling of Starshield satellite connectivity in Ukraine was ordered by the US military and 'ultimately POTUS', while Ukraine's defence minister said service at speeds up to 160 km/h is being restored.

Ukrainian officials noticed connectivity getting throttled in drones cruising at speeds of 160 km/h or more, undermining active operations and drone-based interceptions against Russian attacks.

Musk said Starshield systems 'are owned and controlled by the US government' and that any limits are decided by the US military; Starlink itself, he added, is limited to civilian or defensive use.

By Wednesday afternoon, Ukraine's defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced that connectivity at speeds of up to 160 km/h was being restored, calling the full removal of the speed limit critical for defence.
