India plans new steel policy; 600 million tonnes capacity by 2047

India will soon put its new steel policy in the public domain, the country's steel secretary said on Tuesday.

Steelmaking capacity is expected to reach 600 million metric tons by 2047, signalling a long-term industrial push to expand one of the world's largest steel sectors.
