Telangana SIR row: bogus Form-7 deletion bids rejected in Hyderabad

Election officials in Hyderabad have rejected bulk Form-7 applications in the Goshamahal and Musheerabad constituencies after finding them unsigned — or filed against voters who turned out to be living at the stated addresses.

The rejections followed a verification drive in which booth-level officers visited the addresses on the contested forms and found the named voters residing there, demolishing the deletion claims. The state's chief electoral officer has ordered action against those behind the false submissions.

The Congress and the AIMIM allege a BJP-backed attempt to knock Muslim voters off the rolls — a charge the BJP denies, calling the controversy politically manufactured.

The row is playing out inside Telangana's Special Intensive Revision, with the claims-and-objections window now extended to October 7 and the final list due November 9.
