Trump, Xi agree to support each other's APEC and G20 hosting

US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed during their Washington meeting to support each other in hosting the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and the G20 summit in 2026, China's Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.

The two leaders, who met from September 23 to 25, also exchanged views on the Middle East, Ukraine and the Korean Peninsula, with reports suggesting a new trade arrangement was reached during the talks.

The meeting is being watched closely across Asia, where governments are weighing the implications for supply chains, exports and foreign investment.
