UN says Israel's 'yellow line' in Gaza has become a 'kill zone' as displacement nightmare deepens

OHCHR warned of ethnic-cleansing concerns as Israeli forces squeeze Palestinians into an ever-smaller area.
According to OHCHR, Israel has stated it aims to extend its military deployment area to 70 per cent of Gaza's territory. New displacement was triggered in Al Shujaiyeh in Gaza City and in eastern Al Bureij, eastern Deir Al-Balah and eastern Al Maghazi, where Israeli attacks hit displacement camps and explosive robots detonated buildings left standing.
The agency reported that an Israeli drone dropped munitions on tents at Al Shujaiyeh junction on 25 October, sparking a fire that burned for five hours. The Palestinian Ministry of Public Works and Housing said 200 families — about 800 people, mostly women, children and older persons — were displaced.
Ajith Sunghay, head of UN Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, said the 'nightmare of displacement' is both 'acute and chronic', noting most Gazans are now facing their fourth winter in tents while still under fire. Despite an ongoing ceasefire, more than 1,500 people have been killed in Gaza since it took effect in October 2025, according to the enclave's health ministry.
