India signed off from the Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with a record haul of 114 medals — 30 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze — the country's best ever campaign at the continental showpiece.

The tally surpassed the previous best of 108 medals at Hangzhou 2022, achieved by a much smaller contingent of just 168 para-athletes compared with 309 three years ago, and secured fourth place in the standings behind China, Japan and Uzbekistan.

Para-athletics led the way with 65 medals, followed by para-badminton with 16, including Nitesh Kumar's gold over compatriot Pramod Bhagat in an all-Indian men's singles SL3 final.

Double gold medallists para-shooter Mona Agarwal and high-jumper Nishad Kumar carried the national flag at the closing ceremony, and President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the contingent on its unprecedented success.
