Bosnia votes in election that could shape its EU bid

Bosnians voted on Sunday for a tripartite presidency and parliament in an election that could decide the fate of the country's stalled European Union membership bid.
Voter frustration has grown over an economic slowdown, the slow pace of EU entry talks and a political crisis in which ethnic parties from the two federal entities have repeatedly stalled the weak central government.
Bosnia won EU candidate status in December 2022 and the green light for accession talks in 2024, but negotiations have never started because leaders have not enacted core requirements such as judicial oversight and anti-corruption laws.
Preliminary results were expected from the Central Election Commission after polls closed at 7 pm (1700 GMT) on Sunday.
