Kartik Aaryan's upcoming aviation drama Captain India, directed by Shimit Amin, will be set against the backdrop of the Yemen conflict and inspired by one of India's toughest rescue missions.

Kartik will play a pilot tasked with leading a large-scale evacuation from a war-affected region, his first time in such a role, with the story tracing its roots to 2015 when Houthi forces took control of Sanaa and Saudi Arabia launched a military campaign.

The film draws on Operation Raahat, India's 2015 evacuation effort that brought Indian citizens and nationals of other countries to safety from the conflict-hit region.

The makers have not disclosed exactly how the conflict will be portrayed, but the film is expected to focus on the challenges of carrying out a near-impossible humanitarian operation amid rising tensions.
