ESA signs deal for European astronauts to reach India's post-ISS station
The European Space Agency and ISRO have signed an amended cooperative agreement extending their partnership to January 2032, formally bringing India's planned Bharatiya Antariksh Station into Europe's human-spaceflight planning.
The deal, finalised on the sidelines of the International Space Summit in Paris, adds human and robotic exploration, space weather and orbital sustainability to a framework in place since 2002 — and opens a path for European astronauts to fly to India's post-ISS station.
With the ISS headed for decommissioning around 2030, the agreement gives ESA an alternative crewed destination as it rebuilds its deep-space architecture.
