Cyclone Arnab weakens inland after its Andhra landfall, with three deaths reported in the state, 31 houses damaged and rescue teams bracing for more heavy rain.

Cyclone Arnab weakened as it moved inland after crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast early on Wednesday, but its heavy rain and strong winds left a trail of damage across northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha.

The National Disaster Response Force said at least three people had died in Andhra Pradesh and 31 houses were damaged, while rescue teams prepared for further heavy rainfall as the system moved inland toward Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

Tens of thousands of people had been moved to relief camps before landfall, and 39 NDRF teams were deployed across the affected states to clear fallen trees, restore power lines and help residents return home.
