Hyderabad's 81-ft eco-friendly Durga idol draws up to 50,000 devotees daily

An 81-foot Durga idol made from grass, mud and water-based paints is drawing 40,000–50,000 devotees daily during Navratri; it will dissolve completely on-site at immersion on October 23.
Organised by Gulab Srinivas and now in its 27th year, the idol is designed to dissolve completely during immersion, avoiding pollution of the city's water bodies.
Twenty-eight artists from Kolkata spent two months building the towering idol, one of the tallest eco-friendly Durga installations in the country.
The venue has become one of Hyderabad's most-visited Navratri spots, with devotees streaming in through the day.
