NSO pegs Q2 GDP growth at 7.4%; India stays top innovative lower-middle-income economy
India's economy grew an estimated 7.4% in the July–September quarter of FY2026-27, according to the National Statistics Office's first advance estimate — an acceleration from 7.1% in the June quarter.
Manufacturing led with 10.3% GVA growth, followed by construction at 9.1% and services at 8.4%, even as farm output moderated to 3.4% on uneven monsoon distribution in central India.
In a separate boost, WIPO's Global Innovation Index 2026 ranked India 39th among 132 economies — up one place — retaining its spot as the most innovative lower-middle-income economy for the fifth consecutive year.
