Gross GST collections rose 14.7% year-on-year in September to ₹2,03,521 crore, the third straight month above ₹2 lakh crore, powered by a 26% jump in import-linked revenues.

Domestic GST revenue grew 10.1% to about ₹1.38 lakh crore while import revenues surged 26% to ₹65,525 crore, official data released Oct 1 showed. After refunds, net collections rose 18.1% to ₹1.76 lakh crore.

First-half gross collections (April–September) grew 11.6% to ₹12.46 lakh crore, with Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat and UP each posting 16–18% growth.

The next GST Council meeting on Oct 7 is expected to focus on process reforms under GST 2.0 — e-invoicing and input tax credit rules — rather than rate changes.
