Hyderabad police have booked a BJP booth-level agent for allegedly attempting to get the names of 30 Muslim voters deleted from the electoral rolls in the Musheerabad Assembly constituency using pre-printed Form-7 applications, the first such case in Telangana during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision.

The accused, S. Balachander, allegedly brought 30 digitally pre-printed Form-7 applications to polling station No. 210 on September 28, seeking deletion of voters he had no connection with — including a Congress booth-level agent and his family members. The booth-level officer refused the bulk submission.

Verification later confirmed all 30 electors were residing at the addresses in the electoral records. The case was registered at Chikkadpally police station under Sections 217 and 318(2) of the BNS and Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, on a complaint by ERO T. Praveen Kumar.

The case lands amid a national storm over the voter-roll revision, with the opposition's Delhi protest making the SIR the country's loudest political theme this week.
