Rain washes out Bengaluru decider as India, West Indies share series 2-2

The Bengaluru decider was washed out after just 7.4 overs, so India and the West Indies shared the five-match T20I series 2-2.
Rain had the final say in Bengaluru on Saturday as the fifth and deciding T20I between India and the West Indies was abandoned, leaving the five-match series drawn 2-2. The match was called off at 10.16 pm, ending the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium's long wait for international cricket on an anticlimax. The washout also denied the West Indies a first series win in India since 2002.
The game had already been reduced to nine overs a side after persistent evening showers delayed the toss by hours. Put in to bat, India raced to 118 for five in 7.4 overs, with Ishan Kishan smashing 30 off just 10 balls and debutant Naman Dhir blasting an unbeaten 24 off six balls. Stand-in captain Shreyas Iyer laboured to 22 as Keemo Paul and Shamar Springer took two wickets apiece, before fresh rain arrived with a West Indies chase of 84 off five overs needed.
With no further play possible before the cut-off, the players exchanged handshakes and shared the series honours. Both teams had taken the series in turns: India won in Lucknow and Indore while the West Indies struck back in Ranchi and Hyderabad. West Indies captain Shai Hope was the star of the tour, hitting two unbeaten centuries in the series.
