Fresh from defending Asian Games gold, India's T20 side turns to a five-match home series against West Indies starting Tuesday in Lucknow — a key audition window ahead of next year's T20 World Cup.

Shreyas Iyer captains the T20I squad after leading India to the Asian Games title on Oct 3, with the series running Oct 6–17 across Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The ODIs just gone underlined both promise and concern: India chased a record 406 in Guwahati to seal the series, then Shai Hope's unbeaten 162 denied them a clean sweep in New Chandigarh on Oct 3.

Coach Gautam Gambhir has flagged the need for fairer contests between bat and ball after the run-fests, and with Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel back from Games duty, the bowling unit gets a timely boost.
