ISRO chief outlines space vision for 2047 ahead of ESTIC conclave

ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan said the ESTIC 2026 conclave in Delhi (Oct 27-29) will chart India's science roadmap to 2047. ISRO will exhibit a 30,000 kg-class heavy-lift rocket model and its Chandrayaan 4/5 lunar missions.
ISRO Chairman Dr V. Narayanan has said the Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026, to be held in New Delhi from October 27 to 29, will deliberate on integrating scientific efforts that can take India toward Viksit Bharat by 2047. Addressing reporters in Bengaluru on Thursday, he said ISRO will showcase emerging technologies at the conclave.
On display will be the model of a proposed next-generation heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of placing payloads of over 30,000 kg into low Earth orbit -- a major step up in launch capability. The exhibition will also feature the Chandrayaan 4 and 5 projects, which envisage landing Indian astronauts on the Moon, a goal to be accomplished by 2040.
The conclave will also deliberate on the human spaceflight mission Gaganyaan and the planned Bharatiya Antariksh Station, and a vision document on the space sector for Viksit Bharat will be presented. The announcements underline how ISRO is aligning its roadmap -- from heavy-lift rockets to lunar landings -- with India's 2047 development target.
