‘Jailer 2’ trailer to release on Oct 5, ten days before Rajinikanth's sequel hits screens
The theatrical trailer of Rajinikanth's ‘Jailer 2’ will be unveiled on Oct 5, ten days before the film's Oct 15 release, as the sequel's promotional campaign enters its final phase.
Sun Pictures announced the trailer date with a new poster of Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian; the trailer will launch in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel co-stars Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan and Mithun Chakraborty.
Anirudh Ravichander's music campaign has kept the buzz alive, with singles ‘Ala Bolelo’, ‘One Sun One Moon’ and ‘Bindaas’ already out, plus a tribute anthem marking Rajinikanth's 50 years in cinema. A full 12-track jukebox has been released ahead of the trailer.
Trade reports say USA bookings opened strongly, with $165K grossed from premiere shows within two days of ticket sales. ‘Jailer 2’ arrives in the Dusshera season, with the trailer's reception expected to decide the film's opening trajectory.
