Jaishankar urges zero tolerance on terror as Rubio honours 26/11 victims in Mumbai

At a Mumbai reception with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called for zero tolerance towards terrorism and thanked Washington for extraditing 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar used the 'Freedom 250' reception in Mumbai on Tuesday to press for zero tolerance against terrorism, addressing the event alongside US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He thanked the United States for extraditing Tahawwur Hussain Rana, an accused in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, calling it a mark of deepening counter-terrorism cooperation between the two countries.
Rubio laid a wreath at the 26/11 memorial at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, a gesture Jaishankar said reflected shared resolve against terrorism. The visit, which also takes Rubio to Jamnagar, includes bilateral talks on defence, energy and technology, and comes amid sustained engagement between New Delhi and Washington this year.
Trade is also high on the agenda, with both sides signalling that a long-negotiated deal is within reach. Rubio said the US is 'very close' to finalising a trade pact with India, even as differences over tariffs and Russian oil purchases remain in the background.
