Telangana's food safety authority seized 55 tonnes of allegedly mislabelled snacks worth about Rs 33.94 lakh and suspended licences of four Sahil Foods units near Kattedan.

TG Safe has seized 55 tonnes of allegedly mislabelled food products, worth about Rs 33.94 lakh, from five snack manufacturing units run by Sahil Foods in Premavathipet near Kattedan. The raids followed inspections that found glaring lapses in hygiene and record-keeping.

Officials reported unhygienic machinery, conveyors clogged with food waste, workers chewing gutka on the factory floor, and missing production and batch records. The licences of four of the five units have been suspended, and samples have been sent for laboratory analysis.

The action is part of a wider crackdown by TG Safe on food manufacturing units across the state. Officials said enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks, urging consumers to check packaging and FSSAI licence details before buying snacks and processed foods.
