Sub-inspector dies in Tank Bund hit-and-run during operation

A sub-inspector died in a hit-and-run incident at Tank Bund in Hyderabad on Thursday after being rammed by a biker during an operation, police said. The incident cast a pall over a day otherwise dominated by Visarjan preparations and rain alerts.

Authorities said an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the collision, and the biker is being traced. Senior officers visited the spot and assured the officer's family of full support.

The traffic police have appealed to motorists to follow diversions and speed limits, particularly around the lakefront where immersion-related restrictions are in force.
