Two new Ophiorrhiza plant species discovered in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district.

Researchers have identified two new plant species, Ophiorrhiza shidiensis and Ophiorrhiza pemae, in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district.

Both belong to the Rubiaceae family, commonly known as the coffee, madder or bedstraw family, which has more than 13,150 species worldwide.

Ophiorrhiza shidiensis is named after Shidi, the traditional name for Gandhigram used by the Lisu community, while Ophiorrhiza pemae is distinguished by its taller growth, larger leaves and light pink to purplish flowers.
