CM suspends Yadadri chief engineer over power outages; IAS officers to camp at plant till Oct 30

Telangana's power utility has suspended B. Suresh, the chief engineer of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station's first stage, for alleged negligence in power generation. The suspension order, issued by TG Genco chairman and managing director S. Harish, cites 'gross negligence towards duty' and supervisory lapses in planning, monitoring and executing priority works to improve generation. Suresh has been placed under suspension pending a departmental enquiry.
The action came hours after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, at a review meeting on Wednesday evening, took serious note of power outages across the state. He questioned why the Yadadri plant was not generating at full capacity despite coal linkage from the Naini and Mahanadi coal blocks, and warned that even the Energy Department's special chief secretary and the TG Genco CMD would face suspension if found negligent.
The Chief Minister ordered officials to ensure round-the-clock power supply so crops do not wither amid the prevailing rain-deficit conditions, stressing uninterrupted supply until the harvest is complete. He also directed that the reasons for power cuts be reported to him immediately.
Separately, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has deputed five IAS officers to camp at the Yadadri plant on specified dates between October 15 and 30 to monitor coal handling, unit operations and power generation. The officers will check coal availability and feeding, equipment performance, pending works and generation losses, and verify whether all four units are receiving coal at full levels.
