More than 2,000 people formed a human chain at Hyderabad's Tank Bund on Saturday, demanding the scrapping of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.

Participants took a collective 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao' oath and distributed leaflets setting out their concerns over voter deletions in Hyderabad and Telangana, as organisers vowed to take the campaign to districts across the state until the revision is withdrawn.

Organisers said Hyderabad had already seen several demonstrations against the revision during October, including a public hearing at which people affected by the process presented their accounts before a panel.

The event ended with participants reaffirming the slogan 'SIR Hatao! Desh Bachao!' and pledging wider public participation to protect the independence and fairness of elections.
