Trump tells Musk to lift Starlink restrictions over Ukraine

Donald Trump called Elon Musk to demand an end to Starlink speed caps over Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported. The satellite system was working more normally afterwards, though Kyiv says full speeds are not restored.
US President Donald Trump called Elon Musk and asked him to lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of Starlink, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing US officials. The Starlink system was working more normally on Thursday, shortly after the conversation, according to American and Ukrainian officials cited by the newspaper.
Trump told Musk he was frustrated that speeds remained capped at around 100 mph (160 kph), the report said, though some Ukrainian officials said full functionality had not been restored. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier on Thursday that Starlink speed had not been restored for Ukraine and that he hoped for talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the coming days.
Ukraine relies on Starlink for battlefield communications and drone operations, and throttled speeds had hampered its attack and air-defence drone missions against Russia. The dispute over who ordered the slowdown has produced conflicting accounts: Rubio said on Wednesday that access decisions were up to SpaceX and Musk, while Trump denied ordering any curbs.
