Shai Hope’s unbeaten 102 powers West Indies to record 250 chase; series level 1-1

West Indies completed their highest-ever successful T20I chase — and the second-highest in men’s T20I history — overhauling 250 to beat India by six wickets with nine balls to spare in Ranchi on Friday, levelling the five-match series 1-1.
Skipper Shai Hope anchored the chase with an unbeaten 102 off 45 balls, combining with Sherfane Rutherford (84 off 37) for a blistering 120-run fourth-wicket stand after the visitors had slumped to 0-2 in the opening over, Mayank Yadav removing Pooran and Hetmyer off successive deliveries.
Earlier, Sanju Samson’s 82 off 41 underpinned India’s 249-5, with Ishan Kishan (43) and a late 83-run stand between Shreyas Iyer (40) and Tilak Varma setting what looked like a match-winning total.
The teams meet again in the third T20I in Indore on Sunday with the series evenly poised at 1-1.
