Union Cabinet clears new Integrated Transport & Logistics Authority

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved on October 6 the creation of the Integrated Transport & Logistics Authority, a special-purpose apex body for unified transport and logistics planning.
ITLA will draft a National Transport Master Plan with a 10+ year horizon covering roads, railways, ports, aviation, waterways and urban mobility, and will technically appraise infrastructure projects costing ₹500 crore or more.
Announced by Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the body aims to end fragmented planning across ministries and feed the 2047 development vision.
Logistics costs have long been India's competitiveness drag; the test will be whether one more authority can actually force ministries to plan together.
