4.9-magnitude Chamoli earthquake sends tremors across Delhi-NCR late Tuesday

Tremors from a 4.9-magnitude earthquake with its epicentre in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, were felt across Delhi and the NCR late on Tuesday night; authorities reported no immediate damage.
The quake struck late Tuesday night, sending residents in parts of the capital rushing outdoors as buildings swayed. No casualties or structural damage were immediately reported in Delhi-NCR.
The hill state of Uttarakhand sits in a high seismic zone, and even moderate quakes there routinely rattle the plains hundreds of kilometres away.
A separate 4.5-magnitude tremor also hit Assam's Nagaon district earlier, making it a busy 24 hours for the country's seismographs.
