Defence council clears ₹2.12 lakh crore buys, 82% Indian

Defence ministry clears ₹2.12 lakh crore in capital proposals, with 82 per cent earmarked for Indian industry across the three services.
The Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has accorded Acceptance of Necessity to capital acquisition proposals worth about ₹2.12 lakh crore for the Army, Navy and Air Force.
About 82 per cent of the procurement will be made from Indian industry, covering long-range kamikaze drones, surveillance UAVs, counter-drone shields and self-propelled artillery for the Army, decoy systems and combat ships for the Navy, and light multi-role helicopters for the Air Force.
The clearance is the government's largest single defence procurement push of the year and is aimed at bolstering operational preparedness through domestic manufacturing.
