Prime Minister Modi opens the ESTIC 2026 science conclave in Delhi, saying India is now creating new technologies rather than catching up.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, telling delegates that India is no longer catching up in science but creating new technologies.

The conclave at Bharat Mandapam showcases work in semiconductors, quantum technology, space, artificial intelligence and biotechnology, with ISRO holding a special space-science session on Thursday.

Researchers at the event also reported a newly identified electric ray species from the deep waters of the Arabian Sea, found by the Zoological Survey of India.
