Delhi Police tell High Court that Jantar Mantar was de-notified on Supreme Court's orders

Delhi Police told the High Court that Jantar Mantar was de-notified as a protest site following an October 9 Supreme Court order; the court issued notice and listed the matter for November 17.
The submission was made while the court heard a plea by Indian Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib against the denial of permission to protest at Jantar Mantar against the Chief Election Commissioner.
Delhi Police said three alternative venues — Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground — have been designated, ending Jantar Mantar's 33-year run as a demonstration hub.
The Supreme Court had said the capital needed a larger, better-equipped space where citizens could protest without compromising public safety or emergency access.
