Jio Platforms closes 27% above its issue price on a blockbuster market debut, becoming India's second-largest listed company in the country's biggest-ever IPO.

Shares of Jio Platforms surged about 27 percent on their stock-market debut on Wednesday, closing at ₹1,419 after listing at ₹1,358 against an issue price of ₹1,119 in India's largest-ever initial public offering.

The ₹30,213-crore issue, subscribed more than 22 times, pushed Jio's market value past ₹13 lakh crore and made it India's second-largest listed company, while the combined Reliance Group overtook the Tata Group as the country's biggest conglomerate by value.

The blockbuster listing stood out on an otherwise weak day for the market, with the Sensex and Nifty both closing lower as IT stocks fell and crude prices climbed.
