Kona Venkat blasts Tollywood directors over budget overruns

Tollywood writer Kona Venkat has publicly accused some directors of financial irresponsibility, blaming missed release dates and ballooning budgets on poor pre-production planning and excessive shooting.
He questioned the practice of shooting three hours and fifty minutes of footage only to cut an hour and fifty minutes, calling such directors “criminals of the industry” and demanding consequences — even a ban.
The remarks have sparked a wider debate about accountability and discipline in large-budget Telugu productions, where spiralling costs have become a recurring industry concern.
